It is just another psychiatric fad and is just about as useless as all the others that preceded it. These treatments go in cycles, it was only 50 years ago that they used to operate on your brain to destroy some of it to cure depression. Psychiatrists are morons.
References :
CBT looks at your thoughts and behaviour and how you react to situations. It then goes about by trying to change the way you think and feel about things.

For example if your walking down the street and walk past someone you know and they ignore you. An unhealthy way of looking at it would be. wat have i done wrong, why did they ignore me i must have upset them. You then avoid them cos you think their not happy with you and tend to dwell on what happened. CBT teaches you too look at this is a more positive way. They look a bit wrapped up, i hope their ok, i'll give them a call to make sure. By giving them a call even if it is something you've done at least you can stop questioning and worrying about what happened.
References :
It's a relatively new idea in counselling. The idea being that you will retrain your brain to look at things from a different perspective. It teaches you to let go of all your old ideas and habits and approach them from a different angle. Apparently it's a quite successful method.

By retraining the brain I mean: cease the way you approach obstacles now and approach them from a different direction
