What is the difference between Asperger’s Syndrome and social phobia?
Friday, January 22nd, 2010I have a lot of friends, but I sometimes feel lost and awkward in social situations when I am around people I have never seen before. If I have gotten used to being around certain people, I find that it is somewhat easy to socialize with them, however.
I am very introverted and I prefer to spend my time alone, but I am not exactly a loner.
I almost feel like I should never get married or have kids, because I don’t want to pass on a possible case of autism to my kids.
The short answer is that people with social phobias know how to socialize but get freaked out in social situations.
With Aspergers it is more ‘mind blindness’, where the individuals, are a lot of times incapable of carrying on conversations or engaging in casual small talk, or can’t comprehend even the most subtlest social cues.
looks like i got it, along with depression…
