how can i beat this depression and anxiety?

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

hey everyone..ok its a long story but i will cut it down. basically a couple of years ago i went through a stressful time and ended up having a kind of breakdown i guess. i developed bad generalised anxiety disorder..so bad i actually became agoraphobic ( cudnt leave my house) which then obviously became depression because i was trapped inside scared of everything. ok well now i have managed to pretty much nearly overcome the agoraphobia, i can go out now, i have a great bf, social life back and started back to work part time but i still have anxiety. like i will still worry over stupid things that wudnt bother other people and i cant take it anymore. will it ever go? will i ever be the same again? i have a life back but im still unhappy and anxious. its like i just go through the day to day motions now. i just want to be back to the old me. will it come in time? i guess i just need some hope that i will overcome it. im 24
any advice is very welcome.

you need to go on anti depressants. the will sort you out. so make an appointment soon as possible.

How do i get the doctors at an E.R to treat me for an anxiety attatck.?

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I currently have no insurance and i recently went to the hospital to get treated for my panic attacks and they told me it was not life threatning. Any advice as to what i should do being that i don’t have any insurance or medicaid.

The ER will only take in mentally ill patients who are suicidal.

What you need to do is find a free or sliding-scale mental health clinic. You can find information about this online. Your county will also have information.

You can walk in to any of these clinics and tell them you are having a panic attack, and they will take care of you. They can also get you medication free or at a reduced cost.

As an alternative, you can find a clinic in your area with a sliding-scale fee. For the first visit, they are usually willing to either not charge or charge a reduced fee without financial information, collect it later, and adjust what you have to pay.

It is possible to do this without insurance or medicaid. It’s what my entire family and most of the people we know do.

What could this be? Constant nausea, and getting sick just from the thought/sight/smell of some foods?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Last month some time, I randomly got sick to my stomach just from seeing cereal. Then the past two weeks or so this has been happening more frequently, even with foods I like, along with nearly constant nausea, and occasionally a headache. What could this be from?
I have been slightly stressed out..and seemingly getting into arguments with everyone, I also have social anxiety disorder, if that could be a factor…but I’m not sure why this would randomly happen and build up like this.

These are the symptoms of pregnancy. But idk how old you are. I have social anxiety and I don’t have these.. But hormones cause arguments(mood swings) and nausea. Depending on if you’ve ever ‘done it’ take a test.

what can you do when your life seems bleak and hopeless?

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

I’m being treated for depression and anxiety disorders. So i guess its normal to be feeling hopeless. But still I’m so anxious and frightened. I’ll be out of university soon and it’s tearing me apart. I can’t face the world. I’m feeling so depressed and hopeless. I dont know what to do with myself. I don’t even want to think of the future. I feel trapped.

When you finally face the world, it won’t seem so hopeless. If you continue to stay out of society, it will just get worse. Continue counseling, and move forward.

CTRN Vanquish fear and anxiety program–have you used this program?
I heard about this program and I was thinking about trying it to get rid of my fear of snakes. I would do the in home program, not the one where you actually go in and see a specialist.

Has anyone used this program and does it actually work?

Fears of snakes is caused by your upbringing. So you can learn that your fears are only imagination.

How do I overcome a social anxiety about going to college?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I haven’t got into college yet because of my fear of anxiety around my peers. All through grade school I have been teased, ridiculed, and talked about. It’s challenging to make friends/ or work with people because people are so clickish. I tend to get nervous around others because I fear of being judged like I did in grade school. I want to go to school and this is the only thing that is holding me back. Any solutions?

Hi Jermaine! Yes, overcoming the "fear" of what others have said or what they will say about you is so hard to do.

When I was growing up, I used to faint at the sight of blood. They used to give injections at school (i.e. MMR, TB, etc…) & it NEVER failed, on shot day, while my parents would always write a note for me that I didn’t have to take the shots, I would still have panic attacks & actually faint.

Every time, it would happen in front of the entire class. And kids being kids would be so cruel to me about it. I always felt humiliated & isolated by something that I couldn’t control. So I understand totally what you mean when you say that it’s difficult to make friends & trust people. Once you’ve been singled out by your peers, it is very damaging.

However… the good news is that when you enter college, you have an amazing opportunity to start off with a clean slate. You get to leave all of the history behind & start over fresh, without anyone remembering what has been said about you previously.

When I got out of school, I really blossomed. Didn’t feel that I had to shift through all of those mean, nasty & hurtful words. So I know that this will be true for you. I actually really enjoy being around others now & have a ton of friends, a lot of which tell me that I’m very empathetic. (Of course continually being the brunt of the joke tends to make you much more aware of others feelings.)

So, my recommendation to you? Look at college as a fresh start, a clean slate. You get to start all over building your self-confidence & really discovering who are & what your interests are. This is when you will blossom & really come into who are you are.

If you happen to need any further pushing, you might check out the resource below, as it could help you even now, before you head off & away into your future. Nothing like getting started now, eh?
