See a doctor, either your family doctor or a specialist.
This happened to me, too, and there is medication you can take that will help you go through life more calmly.
I didn’t want to resort to medication, either, but when I did I wondered why I’d waited so long.

Medicine and mediation. Free association might help find out why you have anxiety attacks.

But the good thing is dear you hold the secret, you said it yourself. "Calm myself down" if you can do that trust me your on the right track. I went through this with both my daughter and myself and trust me you are the only one who can control this problem. Stop it from becoming a problem in the first place. When you first feel it coming on, it starts then you have to tell yourself it’s okay, I’m going to be okay and I’m not going to let this go any further. Just remain calm, because it’s when you stat letting yourself get worried or upset the condition progresses by making your heart beat faster etc. So you go to somewhere quiet, close your eyes and picture your heart beating as you visual your heart picture it beating slower and calmer this will actually work to calm your whole body down, and the same time make sure to keep your breathing regulated, not fast just slower and relaxing, remember you can control this. If it’s still an ongoing problem or you need someone to talk to go on my profile and let me know you want to be an e-mail friend and I’ll be here if you need someone. Good Luck and stay calm. If your really concerned it wouldn’t hurt to talk to your doctor or even pharmacist.

I have anxiety attacks too, I’m sorry but taking a deep breathe and telling myself it’s okay just doesn’t quite cut it, if anything it makes it worse for me

Actually i just read an article about this and the author suggests that you use relaxations techniques. He does say you should but a program called panic away for a small price. I will leave the link to the article in the source box. Good luck!

When I had panic attacks way back when I never had to leave classes, but I did freak out to the point where I wanted to.
The first thing you need to realize is that your panic attack will never kill you or hurt you… EVER. It is a fear response… it’s like a bear just walked into your class room and you were alone. You would get the same feelings. The difference is instead of running away or fighting you are just trying to learn. You take in deep breaths and breath normally out so you start hyperventilating. Your chest expands too much so you get chest pain (feels like a heart attack, but its not). Your hands go numb…you know the rest….
At the end of the day open up a word document or a notebook and start writing about the anxiety for that day.
1. When did it happen
2. What happened before and after
3. Why did you get the attack at that time
Normally we all face stress and anxiety, but the majority of people can manage or successfully ignore there problems. When you have anxiety you have problems, you ignore them, but you get panic attacks telling you to start dealing.
Go visit a therapist and they can help. Try to stay away from meds unless anxiety attacks really mess up your grades and you can’t relax for second to try and sort though problems.
