Only for people who have had or delt with ANXIETY?

Hi ive had anxiety for about 4 months now and i was wondering if anyone with anxiety has experienced shortness of breath 24/7, and a heavy feeling in your chest when laying down or in the shower, it seems like everytime i have a panic attack my shortness of breath gets worse i cant even get 1 full breath now.,,

Coping with anxiety can be difficult, and watching what you eat may play a role in making you feel better. Although food can’t cure an anxiety disorder, eating a balanced diet and limiting or avoiding certain foods may help you feel better and improve your mood. It can also help you maintain a steady energy level throughout the day.Drink plenty of water.Limit or avoid alcohol.Limit or avoid caffeine.

Eat some foods that contain tryptophan. Tryptophan helps your brain produce chemicals that improve mood and have a relaxing effect. Milk, bananas, oats, soy, poultry, cheese, nuts, peanut butter and sesame seeds are good sources of tryptophan.

While changes to your diet may make some difference in your anxiety level, you may need treatment such as medication or counseling (psychotherapy) — especially if your anxiety is severe or interferes with your day-to-day activities or enjoyment of life.

Take care as always!

I suffer anxiety and depression. I do have episodes when for days on end, I feel I can’t catch my breath and dizziness also. I have trembling and can’t sleep when going through this. I’ve taken meds and they seem to help, quit them and got worse, and just began them again. After a few weeks they do seem to help. I hope you find something that works for you. It is a truly miserable feeling to feel suffocated all the time. Something else that works temporarily is to sit quietly and focus on your breathing for about 15 minutes, forcing yourself to breathe deeply. Good luck.

I’ve had anxiety for many years. I know the feeling that you are talking about. Especially when laying down and the shower is a place I have anxiety also.

Have you learned breathing techniques? When we panic we have what is called "shallow breathing" you have to teach yourself deep breathing.

Breath in through your nose to the count of 4 make sure your lower belly rises (the part under your belly button) then breath out to the count of 4, do this slowly until the anxiety wears off.

Talk about this with your doctor. Make certain that this is anxiety related to set your mind at ease.
